Major Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse - Across London

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Major Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse to join our surgical team. This temporary role offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse with a passion for orthopaedic care, particularly in lower limb procedures involving hip and knee surgeries, shifts available across London

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare the operating theatre with all necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for orthopaedic procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by scrubbing in, gowning, and gloving appropriately.
• Support the surgeon during operations, passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
• Monitor and assess patient status before, during, and after surgery.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of procedures and vital signs.
• Provide post-operative care, ensuring patient safety and comfort during recovery.
• Ensure infection control and health & safety protocols are strictly followed.
• Manage surgical equipment and stock to support the efficient running of the theatre.

Requirements:

• Current NMC Registration (RGN/ODP with Scrub Experience)
• Proven experience in major orthopaedic scrub nursing, particularly hips and knees
• Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments and theatre protocols
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and within a multidisciplinary team
• High attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety and care

Desirable Attributes:

• Previous experience in a private hospital setting
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
• Additional qualifications in perioperative care
