Cromwell Medical is in a unique position to offer internationally educated highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist, a support package within a reputable NHS trust for a Band 6 role.

 

Overall Purpose of The Post:

The post holder may be supported in the delivery of a specialist input to a care group consisting of children attending early years and mainstream schools across all settings and key stages, including those who have an EHCP as a result of their complex communication and interaction difficulties.  S/he will help to advise on the development of services in this area, have day to day responsibility for co-ordinating a speech and language therapy service to individuals in early years settings, at home and in mainstream schools and independently manage the caseloads in these settings. S/he may be involved in the delivery of child centred training.

 

The post holder will be involved in the provision of early years and school aged assessments in clinic, at home, on site in settings and Mainstream Schools.  The Post holder will be involved in service delivery to children who do not have an EHCP in mainstream settings and in the support of junior colleagues. S/he may be involved in the design and delivery of training packages to settings, schools or school clusters.

 

S/he will be involved in evidence-based, multi-agency projects to develop SLT services for early years and school age children. The post holder will help to develop resources which could be used to develop both the skills and the confidence of professionals supporting children with communication difficulties within early years and mainstream school settings.

 

S/he will be required:

  • To use specialist clinical skills to autonomously manage a specialist caseload of children with speech , language and communication needs.
  • To provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and appropriate speech and language therapy for this specific caseload.
  • To assist in the provision of specialist knowledge to a wide range of professions and agencies around the hosptial
  • To undertake specific responsibilities pertaining to the caseload as defined and designated by the Heads of Service  or Team Leads
  • To support the above with the provision of a high quality service.
  • To use clinical and specialist clinical skills, working closely with the Integrated SEND Service
  • To liaise with a wide range of health and education professionals and specialist tertiary centres.

 

Eligibility:

  • HCPC registration or in process (desirable)
  • Driving licence (essential) 
  • Excellent English communication skills (essential)
  • 36-48+ months experience
