Role Summary

Cromwell Medical Staffing is seeking Band 5 Paediatric Nurses to provide support across paediatric units in Barnsley. This role offers the chance to work within dynamic clinical settings, delivering high-quality care to children and young people while being part of a collaborative healthcare team.

Key Duties

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care by assessing needs, planning interventions, and reviewing outcomes for paediatric patients with medical and surgical conditions
• Safely administer medications and treatments in accordance with professional standards and local protocols
• Observe and record vital signs, identify any clinical changes, and take appropriate action when required.

Family-Centred Care

• Engage with children and their families in a clear, compassionate, and age-appropriate manner
• Provide guidance, reassurance, and education to parents and carers throughout treatment
• Promote involvement of families in care planning and decision-making wherever suitable.

Governance & Safety

• Follow safeguarding policies and raise concerns in line with established procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards
• Ensure equipment is used correctly and report any issues or incidents promptly.

Professional Responsibilities

• Keep NMC registration active and meet revalidation standards
• Attend required training sessions and stay updated with clinical best practices
• Assist in supporting junior colleagues, students, and support staff where appropriate.

Essential Criteria

• Registered Children’s Nurse (RNC) only.
• Previous experience within an NHS or comparable acute paediatric environment is preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on compassionate, family-focused care
• Ability to manage workload effectively and respond to urgent clinical situations.
