Position Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Neonatal Nurses to support a busy Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Barnsley. This role is suited to clinicians with hands-on experience in high-dependency neonatal environments, capable of delivering specialist care to newborns requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.

Scope of Practice:

• Deliver advanced neonatal nursing care to infants requiring intensive or high-dependency support
• Continuously observe and interpret clinical indicators, taking swift action in response to any deterioration
• Prepare and administer prescribed treatments in line with neonatal care protocols
• Collaborate closely with medical teams and allied healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
• Provide clear communication, reassurance, and practical support to families during critical stages of care
• Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation in line with regulatory standards.

Candidate Profile:

• Valid registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse
• Demonstrable experience working within a NICU setting (minimum 6 months)
• Familiarity with Level 2 and/or Level 3 neonatal care environments
• Skilled in neonatal life support and emergency interventions
• Legal right to work in the UK
• Current mandatory training certifications, including BLS and NLS.
