Role: Band 5 Registered Nurse (RGN) – Surgical & AAU (32B)

Hospital: North Bristol NHS Trust – Southmead Hospital

Contract Type: Agency / Temporary

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 4–8 weeks (with possible extension)

Working Hours: Approx. 60 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 5 shifts per week (block booking) | Flexible long days (Monday–Sunday)

Pay Rate: £21 – £30 per hour

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting a Band 5 Registered Nurse (RGN) to join the Surgical & Acute Assessment Unit (32B) at Southmead Hospital. This is a busy acute clinical environment requiring flexibility and strong general nursing skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care within surgical and AAU settings
• Monitor and assess acutely unwell surgical patients
• Support admissions, discharges, and patient flow
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Administer medications and maintain clinical documentation
• Provide safe, timely, and patient-focused care

Requirements

• Active NMC registration (RGN)
• Previous acute or surgical ward experience preferred
• Ability to work flexible 5-day rota (Mon–Sun)
• Strong clinical and decision-making skills
• Comfortable working 12-hour long day shifts
• Reliable and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
